Luxury Memory Care Homes Under Development
AKA Living is a family-owned real estate investment and development company led by Aaron and Andrea Ameen. What began as a small portfolio of residential rental properties has grown into a broader platform focused on building and operating real estate-backed businesses that improve how people live and receive care.Today, our work spans residential real estate investments and the development of smaller, more personal senior living communities designed to provide dignified care and a true sense of home for residents. Our long-term vision is to create thoughtful housing environments that deliver both strong investments and meaningful impact for the families and communities we serve.
Expanding Into Residential Care Homes
Over the past seven years, we’ve built a portfolio of residential rental properties across multiple states. Along the way, several of those homes were leased to assisted living operators, which gave us our first real exposure to the residential care model.Seeing how powerful that environment could be for residents and families opened our eyes to a much bigger opportunity.
Today, we are in the middle of a $10 million development project to bring two luxury residential assisted living homes to Tomball, Texas. These homes are designed to provide a more personal, dignified alternative to traditional large-scale facilities. Our experience as long-term real estate owners, combined with what we’ve learned from operators in our portfolio, has shaped a new direction for AKA Living: building smaller, more thoughtful senior living environments where residents truly feel at home.
A Personal Mission
In particular, Andrea’s Grandparents and her Father all suffered from long, drawn out memory-related illnesses that put them in facilities for the final years of their lives. These facilities were understaffed, lacked character, and certainly didn’t feel like home. It was a difficult thing to watch, especially as a young person who feels powerless to do anything about it.Worse yet, the response times and quality of care were mediocre at best, and there were several instances of neglect, one of which even led to the early passing of her Father…Nobody should have to go through that. While we can’t change the past, we CAN be a small part of the solution for others who don’t want to see their loved ones go through the same thing. So here’s what we’re going to do about it.We are embarking on a mission to build 5 Memory Care Mansions in the next 5 years.
A Memory Care Mansion is a purpose-built residential home designed to provide high-quality care in a setting that feels warm, personal, and familiar.Rather than large institutional facilities with dozens or hundreds of residents, these homes are intentionally smaller and more intimate. Each home includes:

Private Suites
Residents have their own private bedroom and bathroom, providing comfort, dignity, and personal space.

A True Home Environment
Thoughtful design, shared living spaces, and smaller resident groups create an environment that feels calm, welcoming, and familiar.

Personalized Care
With fewer residents and higher caregiver-to-resident ratios, care teams can provide more attentive, individualized support.
With 10,000 people turning 65 every single day across the country, the need for quality senior care is going increase dramatically over the coming decades. The U.S. is currently experiencing a significant shortage of assisted living beds. It is projected that there will be a deficit of 1.3 million beds by 2029.Surveys overwhelmingly indicate that many seniors prefer to live in a home-like environment rather than large, institutional settings.
Our first development project is Everwood Reserve, a pair of luxury residential assisted living homes currently under development in Tomball, Texas.Together, the two homes will provide 32 private suites in a thoughtfully designed environment focused on comfort, dignity, and high-quality care for residents and their families. This project is being developed in partnership with experienced operators and advisors, including Brett and Laura Chotkevys, who have helped pioneer the residential assisted living model.Construction is currently underway, with the first homes expected to open in early 2027.You can learn more about the project at https://www.everwoodreserve.com
